Rupp, (1872-1956) was an Australian orchid enthusiast, a nineteenth century clergyman-scientist, who devoted his spare time to studying, drawing and writing about native orchids. He published over 200 scientific papers, wrote two authoritative books and described over seventy new species. This detailed biography gives a good picture of colonial science.
