Tom Durrant.

A fascinating study of the botanical, horticultural, literary and social history of the genus Camellia. The story begins in China and Japan and then follows the introduction of the plant to European gardens and from there to the United States, and to Australia and New Zealand. The expert author then documents the revival of interest in the twentieth century and his own introduction of new varieties. Tom Durrant was awarded the gold Veitch Memorial medal of the Royal Horticultural Society, a rare award to a New Zealander. There are 200 plus colour photographs, a very interesting and beautiful  book.
