An account of the life of Empress Josephine derived from contemporary documents, eye witness reports, letters and memoirs. She was famous for her love of plants and collected many rare ones at her garden Malmaison. Her love of roses was legendary and she commissioned the botanical artist Pierre-Joseph Redoute to record all 169 varieties in her garden, many of which are now extinct. All are reproduced in full colour in this book.
