A complete biography of the great French pacific explorer whose two and half year expedition between 1785 and 1788 was one great achievement especially in the survey of the unknown seas north of Japan and the coast of Siberia. The expedition ended in tragedy when after leaving New South Wales the two ships disappeared, a mystery that was not solved for 40 years.
