Pioneering airline Air Travel (NZ) was launched by pilot Bert Mercer in 1934, and lasted until 1947 when it became part of NAC. Mercer was the first Kiwi to achieve 10,000 flying hours and his West Coast airline also pioneered airmail, air-ambulance, alpine tourist flying and freight. The book tells this story and of the Fox Moths, Dragonflies and Dominies and how these biplanes became indispensable to the isolated people of South Westland. Illustrated with many rare photographs.
