Alan Mark was Professor of Botany at the University of Otago and most of the plants were collected by him in the Mt Aspiring National Park. The line drawings and the 118 coloured plates of botanical paintings are all by Nancy Adams who was working as an artist in the herbarium of the National Museum, now Te Papa. First published in 1973 this is the second revision. A New Zealand botanical classic.
