The first ever accurate survey of the surviving indigenous forest in New Zealand. This survey relied to some extent on aerial reconnaissance, but was largely completed over a period of ten years by teams on the ground. The results are now of considerable historical interest. Two folding maps to rear. This copy belonged to one of the survey team leaders, R.G. Lawn, and has a tribute letter stapled to the front endpaper.
