Lanning Roper was one of the most successful and influential garden designers working in Great Britain, Europe and America from the mid 1950s until his death in 1983. This book draws upon Roper’s private papers and makes use of many of his own photographs. He was born in New Jersey, USA and this American background meant he was able to bring fresh ideas to his work in Britain and Europe. The author provides a sympathetic portrait of a remarkable plantsman and garden consultant. Black and white and colour photographs throughout. A large heavy book.
