Mel Gooding, David Mabberly & Joe Studholme.
Banks’ Florilegium consists of 743 engravings of plants gathered by Joseph Banks and Daniel Solander on Cook’s first voyage around the world in HM Barque Endeavour, 1768-1771. The engraved plates were prepared after the voyage but were not published at the time, and remained unused for 200 years. They were printed for the first time in 1980-90. In association with the British Museum a limited edition of 100 sets was published by Alecto Historical Editions. This book contains beautiful colour reproductions of 147 of the finest of these engravings, including a selection depicting New Zealand plants. Printed on fine cream paper and first published in 2017 this is the second, compact, edition.
