John Reeves went to China as an East India Company tea inspector in 1812. He began sending botanical information to Sir Joseph Banks at Kew and also started collecting plants for the Horticultural Society of London. He also organised a team of Chinese artists to paint botanical illustrations. The resulting collection of 877 paintings is now in the RHS Lindley Library. This book is the story of Reeves and his collection.
