Jurgen Goldstein.

Excellent biography of German scientist Georg Forster, 1754-94. He and his father Reinhold were appointed expedition naturalists and accompanied James Cook on his second voyage of Pacific exploration between 1772 and 1775 aboard HMS Resolution. During this extensive voyage they made many scientific observations and drew and collected many botanical and other specimens of great interest. They spent some time in New Zealand and were on board when Cook reached an incredible 71 degrees south, closer to the pole than any previous navigator. Georg Forster wrote A Voyage around the World, published in 1777 which is now regarded as a classic of travel literature.
