A collection of essays concerning the ethnographical collection formed by Johann Forster and his son Georg, German botanists, who travelled with James Cook on his second Pacific exploring expedition from 1772 to 1775. The collection was originally presented to Prince Leopold III of Anhalt-Dessau who commissioned a special ‘South Sea Pavilion’ to house it in the park at his Worlitz Palace. This book celebrates a new exhibition of these objects in 2019. The collection includes some Maori artefacts from New Zealand.
