Colin J. Burrows, editor.
A collection of interesting papers given at a symposium held in Christchurch during November 1996 to mark the 150th anniversary of the publication of “Choix de plantes de la Nouvelle-Zelande” by French naval doctor Etienne Raoul who was stationed at Akaroa, Banks Peninsular in 1840-43. He made many observations of New Zealand plants and collected herbarium specimens, some of which are illustrated in the publication. His contribution to local botany was considerable and the modern alpine genus Raoulia is named for him. 30 colour photographs of alpine plants in the wild.
