German born Koch settled in New Zealand in 1858. Hie brought with him one of the first lithographic presses and became the finest mapmaker in the country, working for the Dept. of Lands and Survey. Complete with his memoirs, this work illuminates the exploration and documentation of early European New Zealand. Superb full colour reproductions of some of his maps.
